Is associate professor since 2011 and coordinates the Unit of Medical Education since January 2004 at the School of Health Sciences, University of Minho. Is responsible for monitoring the educational quality of undegraduate medical education, for faculty development and for research in medical education. Visiting Scholar at the Center for Research in Medical Education and Health Care (Thomas Jefferson University, Philadelphia). Coordinator of the Administration of NBME's exam of medical knowledge "International Foundations of Medicine" at SHS -UMinho.
Author or co-author of articles on education published in international journals. Regular presenter at international conferences since 2007. Member of the Education Commission of the International Union of Biochemistry and Molecular Biology (IUBMB). In 2007, the Commissioner for Education in the international conferences "Critique of the Contemporary" promoted by the Serralves Foundation in 2007, in Oporto. He is a member of the panel of editors of Biochemical and Molecular Biology Education (BAMBED) of the Digital Library of Educational Technology Laboratory at the University of Campinas (Sao Paulo, Brazil), and BioQuest Library. Guest editor of special issue of Biochemistry and Molecular Biology Education devoted to recent developments in the Iberian Peninsula and Latin America (2009).
Degree in Biochemistry (University of Porto, 1991) and Ph.D. in Biomedical Sciences (University of Porto, 1997). Has education as main scientific interest since the year 2000.
